Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We understand that you may have questions about your care, treatment process, and what to expect at RMI. This FAQ page is designed to provide clear, helpful answers to the most commonly asked questions from our patients. Whether you’re preparing for your first visit or seeking more information about our services, you’ll find the support you need right here.

At RMI, we offer all of the standard imaging tests that you would expect at a hospital or full-service imaging center. These include MRI, CT, X-Ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, and DEXA bone densitometry. However, we also offer tests that are uncommon among healthcare providers. These include PET imaging, contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), 4D breast MRI, rapid screening breast MRI, image-guided breast biopsy, and genetic testing for breast cancer. We also offer preventive screening tests such as cardiac calcium score, coronary CT angiogram, and low-dose CT lung screening.

Preparation varies depending on the type of test you are having. When you make your appointment, we (or your doctor) will provide you with instructions on how to prepare for your test. When it comes to MRI, you will need to remove any metal objects from your person. In most cases, you will be able to take your regular medications before your appointment, however in some cases, you may need to adjust the timing or dosage for certain imaging tests.

If you have any allergies or have previously had an adverse reaction to x-ray or CT contrast dyes, please inform the technologist. MRI contrast is different from x-ray or CT contrast, and you may not experience the same reaction. At RMI, your safety is our highest priority and our clinicians are prepared in the unlikely event you have an adverse reaction.

In most cases, your test results will be available to you and your doctor in our patient portal within 72 hours of your imaging test.
