    Biography

    Dr. Michael J. Hicks is an esteemed radiologist with specialized training in cross-sectional body imaging. His robust foundation in medicine was laid at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine, where he earned his M.D., and he further honed his skills during his internship at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI.

    Taking on leadership roles early in his career, Dr. Hicks has served as the Chief Resident for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency program at the University of Michigan as well as dedicating time to advance the field of radiology as the Secretary of the Michigan Radiological Society’s Resident Section.

    A keen researcher, Dr. Hicks has been instrumental in several studies, with a notable focus on colorectal and breast cancer research. His contributions extend to laboratories at the University of Michigan Medical School and Kalamazoo College, where he delved into the molecular structures of enzymes and contributed significantly to grant-winning research. His work has been recognized and published in several peer-reviewed journals, covering diverse topics ranging from cardiology to oncology.

    Dr. Hicks’s commitment to education is evident from his roles as a Health Record Grader at MSU CHM, where he assessed medical student progress, and as a Blue Coat for Anatomy and Neuroanatomy Lab, guiding first-year students in their anatomy courses. His dedication to the field also saw him co-founding the Radiology Interest Group at MSU CHM, fostering interest and knowledge in radiology among peers.

    Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Hicks is a proud alumnus of Kalamazoo College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect GPA. His academic excellence continued with numerous honors and awards throughout his educational journey, including several honors in various clerkships at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

    Outside the realm of medicine, Dr. Hicks is passionate about downhill skiing, wakeboarding, swimming, and traveling. He also cherishes making maple syrup with his family, a testament to his deep-rooted family values.
