CT Lung Cancer Screening

It’s a typical day. Patients in your waiting room, phones ringing off the hook, and seemingly precious little time to tell your patient the news. News you don’t want to deliver. News that they have advanced lung cancer.

A hard talk. Brutal. And here in Genesee County, all too common. You may already know the statistics: lung cancer incidence rates 20% higher with death rates 13% higher than the state average.

It’s time to change those numbers. Take the fight to lung cancer, and the second-best way is early detection. When it comes to detecting lung cancer, x-rays are not enough. CT lung screenings reduce mortality rates by 20% compared to chest x-rays.

Regional Medical Imaging launched a comprehensive program in late 2014 emphasizing low-dose CT lung cancer screenings to change the numbers. To give your patients a fighting chance. Let’s work together to get your at-risk patients screened today.

Guidelines for low-dose CT lung screening

  • Current or former smoker.
  • Age 55 to 76 years.
  • 30 pack-year history (Pack-year history is calculated by multiplying the number of years smoking by the number of packs per day.)
  • No history of lung cancer.
  • You may also recommend CT lung cancer screening for current or former smokers who do not meet these exact criteria based on an individual assessment of lung cancer risk.

How we work with your at-risk patients

  • Working with patients on Medicare/Medicaid in agreement with the 2014 CMS decision to allow an annual CT lung screening as a covered benefit for patients meeting eligibility criteria.
  • Most other insurances currently or plan to add an annual screening as a covered benefit.
  • High-quality, affordable care with screening at $287 for time-of-service.
  • Rapid turnaround of reports, so you can move quickly onto caring for your patient.
  • Screenings offered at three locations: Lennon Road, Fenton, Grand Blanc, Royal Oak.

How we work with physicians

  • Same-day appointments (subject to availability).
  • On-line appointment request system.
  • Price comparison through New Choice Health.
  • Quick results to PCPs thanks to continuous improvement of our information technology system.
  • Industry-leading recognition from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s PGIP, where RMI exceeded quality and value criteria earning it the highest incentives awarded to date.
